Drilling the holes in the new mahogany-core hammers from Abel. The advantage of drilling the holes instead of using pre-bored hammers, it that it is possible to drill the hammers so that they run parallel to the strings, by observing the grooves on the old hammers, and drilling to match. This makes una-corda pedalling more consistent, as well as allowing for more consistent tone.
